Scan Speak based three way systems from $5,995
Scan Speak are a Danish Company specialising in ultra high end speaker drivers. They manufacture woofers, midranges and tweeters used in some of the worlds most expensive speaker systems. Normally you would expect to pay a minimum of $10,000 for a small 3 way system using even their standard drivers, Their 'Revelator' series are used in systems costing from $20k to over $100k.

Minstral - 3 way plus active subwoofer from $7,995
The second in the ‘signature series’ of products to be released, the award winning "Minstral" follows on from the success of the much lauded “Austral” statement floorstander, and in keeping with its bigger brother’s design philosophy employs dual chambers with active on-board subwoofers matched to a three way vertical array. The new design keeps the family resemblance with a tapered asymmetrical cabinet shape to minimise standing waves within the enclosure.
Utilising the same high quality Visaton ribbon tweeter and dome midrange as Austral, matched to a new 8” woofer and 10” Subwoofer, both made of carbon fibre, ensures that this new design is capable of lightning fast transients, as well as high power handling. Mundorf components (as used by B&W, Sonus Faber, etc) are employed exclusively in the 12dB per octave crossover assembly, which is hard wired to the floor of the upper chamber. The tweeter features an optional variable attenuator to compensate for differing room acoustics.
Both chambers incorporate bass reflex designs with the ports venting to the front of the cabinet to assist with bass reinforcement. A second benefit of this design is that Minstral can be placed closer to the wall of the listening environment than rear ported cabinets. The subwoofer chamber is tuned to 31Hz with an effective in-room bass response down to 26Hz, and the ribbon tweeter ensures high frequency extension out to 30KHz. Both subwoofer drivers are fed by a single plate amplifier offering 240 watts of continuous output power, featuring auto power on, adjustable gain, crossover frequency and phase, with both high and low level inputs and outputs. The upper chamber three-way unit is rated at 120watts continuous at an amplifier friendly 8 ohm load.
Minstral is designed to offer a 2 box solution for both Hi-fi and Home Theatre applications, and its flexibility of connection options ensures it is at home with any AVR, stereo integrated amplifier or pre/power combination. Finishes available include brushed aluminium (shown), and a variety of timber veneers or acrylic lacquer finishes. At cost options available include piano black finish or solid cabinet timbers such as Jarrah or Rosewood. Stereo subwoofers are also available if required.
Each pair of Minstral’s is individually signed and numbered and incorporates matched driver pairs and crossover components to provide a pin point accurate sound stage and are hand assembled to order for our clients. They are only available direct from the manufacturer.

Austral - A true statement visually and audibly from $17,995
Project "Austral" was the first in the signature series of products. The design brief was simple.....produce the best value for money ultra high end speaker available.
"Austral's" initial design brief was to develop a superlative full range speaker, capable of high spl's and with as flat a frequency response as possible. In order to achieve this aim, our Pro-12 subwoofer design has been modified from a bass reflex enclosure to a larger 103 litre tapered transmission line tunnel which wraps around a specially designed 5 speaker, 3 way vertical D'Appolito array for pinpoint voicing and accuracy. The D'Appolito array consists of twin butyl rubber impregnated carbon fibre mid/woofers, twin silk dome midrange/tweeters, and a single ribbon super tweeter. The dual chamber cabinet design takes the form of a truncated pyramid in order to eliminate internal standing waves and provide an aesthetically appealing form. The Subwoofer chamber is a constant taper "C" shaped design, wrapping around the inner chamber which is asymmetrical and has no parallel surfaces.
The ribbon tweeter is exactly at ear level from a seated position for perfect acoustic image centreing whilst the combination of cone and dome midranges provide excellent off axis response up to 35 degrees.
Both tuning ports exit at the top of the cabinet to provide bass reinforcement for the lower driver in the same vertical plane as the array. Initial testing confirms that the point source appears to emanate from a position approximately 300mm in front of the tweeter making it impossible to localize the sound source to any particular driver.
The crossover circuit for the centre array is a three way 12dB per octave design incorporating separate filters for each driver. This design utilizes the finest German made Mundorf components exclusively, and is hard wired. High grade OFC wire is used throughout.
Austral has a raw frequency response of 25Hz to 35KHz +/-2.5dB, with 20Hz only a further 2dB down. With 1/3rd Octave smoothing applied the response becomes an incredibly linear 23Hz - 35KHz +/- 1.5dB making Austral one of the most accurate speaker systems available today.
